Sometimes it has to be a semester off
You can take a leave of absence if you need to pause your studies for the following reasons:
- Illness,
- a stay abroad during your studies,
- maternity or parental leave,
- if you have to work for a university, the student body or the student union for a maximum of two semesters,
- re-registration due to colloquium or a performance record after submission of the final thesis,
- internship,
- membership in a squad of a top professional association in the Olympic Sports Confederation.

What applies during a semester of leave?
The semester fee must also be paid for a semester of leave. Semesters on leave are not counted as subject semesters. Therefore, students are generally not allowed to earn credits (ECTS) during a semester of leave. Information about the possibility of reimbursement of the RMV fee during a leave of absence can be obtained from the AStA at asta-hochschule-darmstadt.de.
