Senate, Senate Committes and Commissions

Why a senate?

The Senate is the highest decision-making body at the university, quasi the Bundestag of the h_da. It deals with topics from teaching, studies and research that affect the entire university or are of fundamental importance. For example, the Senate decides on examination regulations, defines guidelines for university development or discusses university policy developments. The Senate also elects the Presidential Board of the university, consisting of the President and Vice-Presidents. The Senate is made up of several elected groups. Nine professors are represented in the professorial group, three in the staff group and five in the student group.

Do you want to get involved?

If you are interested in working in the Senate or in Senate committees and commissions, you can stand for election during the annual university elections. The committees and commissions work on the topics of development planning (HEP), study and examination regulations (StuP), finances, evaluation, equal opportunities or the Hessian Higher Education Act and the Basic Regulations of the h_da (HoGo).

If you would like to know more about the committees and their composition, just take a look at the university website for the elections
