Accreditation Commission

Accreditation. What is it?

With the changeover to Bachelor's and Master's degrees, the accreditation of study programmes was also introduced in the European Higher Education Area. This is a kind of approval procedure for study programmes in order to be able to ensure the quality of study programmes. Most universities have implemented so-called programme accreditation in recent years. In this process, study programmes are individually assessed by external groups of experts and, ideally, a recommendation for accreditation is made.

Trend towards system accreditation

In the meantime, however, the trend among higher education institutions in Germany is towards system accreditation. Here, it is not the individual study programme that is assessed, but the internal quality assurance system of a higher education institution. Once a system accreditation procedure has been successfully completed, a higher education institution can approve its own study programmes.

Successfully system-accredited

The h_da was successfully system-accredited in 2020 and has set up its own Accreditation Commission (AKS) for the internal accreditation of study programmes. In addition to four professors, one administrative-technical or scientific employee and the Vice President for Studies, Teaching and Student Affairs, the commission also includes two students. So, take advantage of this opportunity to get involved in the quality assurance of the degree programmes. By the way: All committee members are trained in advance.
