What if there's a fire?

Be well informed and keep calm

A fire – no matter where – is always an exceptional situation. Familiarize yourself with the rules of conduct in the event of a fire at an early stage so that you are not overwhelmed in an emergency and know exactly how to behave. Once there's a fire, it's already too late.
So: inform beforehand, know the rules of conduct and keep calm in the event of a fire.

The most important rules at a glance:

  • In the event of an alarm, buildings are completely evacuated,
  • close windows & doors, but do not lock them,
  • take helpless and persons in need of help with you,
  • follow the escape route signs,
  • note that the elevators are not be used,
  • follow the instructions of the fire safety assistants,
  • go to the assembly points and wait for instructions,
  • do not drive off the campus, as the fire brigade access roads must remain free in any case,
  • you may not return to the buildings until cleared by the fire service,
  • and take every fire alarm seriously and follow the rules outlined here. There are no fun alerts.

Information on safety equipment (e.g. emergency plans, first aid kits, fire extinguishers) and the assembly points for the university locations and building areas can be found in the fire safety briefing.
