The Studierendenwerk Darmstadt operates cafeterias, bistros, coffee bars and a beer garden at five locations in Darmstadt and Dieburg. You can pay there without cash using your CampusCard or you can get a canteen card (at the cash desk, deposit 5.00 euros). The advantage: faster processing when paying without a cash surcharge and the queues are shorter. The card can also be used to use most of the copying machines at the h_da, as well as the washing machines in the Studierendenwerk residence halls.

Since April 2022, h_da students and staff can also enjoy the "Schöffers" in the new student house. The Studierendenwerk's university catering team offers fresh, authentic and international cuisine with a seasonal focus in an inviting front cooking concept in the new campus restaurant. The majority of the dishes and homemade baked goods are offered as vegetarian and vegan options and are suitable for takeaway.
The food courts, coffee bar and associated beer garden are open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 8:00pm and Saturdays from 11:30am to 7:00pm.

You can check the current menu of all refectories and bistros on a daily basis via the app "Mensa Darmstadt" or online at studierendenwerkdarmstadt.de.
You want:
- all current menus of the refectories and bistros at a glance,
- a menu filtered according to intolerances and allergies,
- authentic pictures of the dishes, so you don't always have to queue in front of the display plates,
- know at which counter the dish will be served,
- be notified when your favourite dish is on the menu,
- always be able to read your chip card balance to know how much money is left on your CampusCard,
- Influence the menu via feedback,
- actively participate in deciding what goes on your plate by voting,
- and always be informed about the latest news.

What hardly anyone knows is that most of the baked goods you can buy in the refectories, bistros and coffee bars are produced by the Studierendenwerk itself. For over 40 years, they have been baking in their own bakery in the Mensa Lichtwiese. Early in the morning, it's the turn of garnet splinters, nut buns, almond sticks and various cakes and baked goods. This also includes the homemade BIO bread, which you can always order in the bistro on Tuesdays for Thursdays.
