Own right to doctorate
Would you like to do a doctorate after graduating? Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences offers you a variety of options. The h_da has its own right to award doctorates in the following subjects:
- Applied Computer Science,
- Sustainability Sciences,
- Social Work.
For each subject area there is a doctoral centre for carrying out doctorates.
Cooperative doctorates
In addition, the h_da offers its graduates the possibility of cooperative doctorates in all areas within the framework of corresponding agreements with partner universities in Germany and abroad. In this case, the doctoral candidates are usually involved in a research project at the university and are jointly supervised by a professor from the h_da and the respective partner university. The doctorate is awarded by the university in accordance with the regulations applicable there.
Graduate school offers support
The Graduate School of the h_da is a central contact point for all doctoral students and offers a wide range of support and funding for all aspects of doctoral studies.

- comprehensive information, support, advice and assistance on all academic, organisational and administrative issues,
- Contact, advice and support for a doctorate at a doctoral centre or a cooperative doctorate throughout the entire process,
- Possibility of enrolment as a doctoral student,
- Assistance in applying for a doctoral scholarship from the h_da,
- Doctoral studies that provide support from the preparation of the exposé to the preparation of the defence and offer extracurricular training,
- Networking and exchange,
- Possibility of using a workroom,
- Possibility of integration as a doctoral student in the European University of Technology (EUt+).
