Libraries
Specialist literature: indispensable for studying
Libraries are powerful information providers, based not only on extensive local stock in the form of books and journals, but also offering a complementary range of licensed digital content (e-journals, e-books, subject databases, publication servers).
Using academic literature
Throughout your studies, you will be dependent on high-quality information in the form of academic literature, whether it is for acquiring knowledge, preparing term papers or presentations, studying for exams or, ultimately, in extensive form for writing your final thesis. Exclusive internet research is often not sufficient, and the use of different and diverse sources is usually obligatory.
More than just literature
Libraries are certainly one of the most important and competent sources of information and should be a central point of contact for every student, regardless of the subject area, throughout their studies.
The h_da libraries support you with training courses on a wide range of topics, such as internet research, databases or literature management programs. You can find training dates in the training calendar on the library homepage.
University students can have their campuscard activated as a library card. Please bring your campuscard, valid identity card or passport with a certificate of registration from the Residents' Registration Office to register and activate your library card. As soon as the campuscard is activated, you can borrow media, use the digital services and access your personal loan account.
For students who already have a conventional library card, the card will only be activated if the old card is returned at the same time. campuscard and library cards are not transferable. As the holder, you are liable for all damage caused by misuse. Therefore, inform the library immediately if you have lost your campuscard / reader's card so that it can be blocked. For a new campuscard, please contact the SSC. If your address changes, please inform the library immediately.
You can access your personal account via the "Ausleihkonto" link on the library homepage. After entering your library card number and password (initial password: date of birth, 6 digits in the form DDMMYY), you can view the list of your borrowed and reserved items online, renew items, change your password and view any outstanding fees. For security reasons, you should change your password after logging in for the first time.
You can receive an e-mail reminder seven days before the loan period expires to return or renew your borrowed items. This is a non-binding service provided by the library. However, we cannot guarantee that the e-mails will be received. The service does not release you from the obligation to ensure that the borrowed items are returned/renewed on time.
Fees are charged for reminders if the loan period is exceeded:
- 1st reminder: 3,00 Euro
- 2nd reminder: 6,00 Euro (14 days later)
- 3rd reminder: 12,00 Euro (14 days later)
The fee is due per item! From 6,00 Euro fees no more borrowing is possible!
New reader's card: 15,00 Euro
Processing fee for book replacement: 11,00 Euro
Loss of cloakroom key: 20,00 Euro plus the cost of a new lock cylinder
